Me and Martin
I was born and raised outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (North Huntingdon township) where I attended Norwin High School. I received my Bachelor of Science from Chatham College (now Chatham University) – where I graduated Cum Laude and became a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Because of my Pittsburgh upbringing, I am fluent in speaking Pittsburghese.
I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. When my dog, Lily, became ill in 2003, I developed an interest in holistic medicine after it helped her to regain her health. I have advanced training in veterinary homeopathy with Dr. Richard Pitcairn, completing the 130 hour Professional Course in 2005, the 96 hour Advance Course in 2008, and passed the qualifying exam for certification in veterinary homeopathy in 2005. I have over 30 hours of Veterinary Integrative Nutrition through Standard Process, and provide my patients with nutritional counseling in the form of using food and high quality nutraceuticals like those available from Standard Process, MediHerb, VetriScience, Nutramax, and Nordic Naturals.
I currently reside in Sewell, NJ with my husband and 5 dogs: Petunia, Seaweed, Skookum, Margaux, and Martin. They enjoy hiking, nature watching, and swimming (AKA getting muddy) in the steam behind “their” house.

Hi Dr. Jen, I found you searching for a holistic vet in the South Jersey area. I was so sad to learn you had left Bethel Mill Animal Hospital because it is relatively close to where I live. I was wondering if you are practicing anywhere else yet? The holistic vet I was using for my dog is on extended sabbatical and I need to have my dog seen. If you aren’t practicing anywhere yet, do you know of any other holistic vets in the area you would recommend? Thank you!

Dr. Jen, I want to thank you for everything you did for our family and Zoe on Saturday. It was a very traumatic couple of days for us, and you and Amanda helped us with one of the hardest decisions of our lives. Zoe was such a great dog, and such a part of our family. I feel such a hole in my heart with her gone, but I know it was the right thing to do for her. I know you spent extra time with us, and that plaque you made was so special and kind of you. We will always cherish that. I do look forward to having you over again for a normal check up of either our cats or our next puppy (which will be soon- it’s too quiet and sad without our Zoe!). I feel very blessed to have found such a great vet.

Jeanette, I am so sorry to hear of your;loss. I know Dr. Jenn for over 6 years. She has helped me in many dog emergencies. I was so sad to hear that she left the other practice..I recently found her.. I am going to leave her a message about my Varg’s situation (Varg is my 6 yr.old Newfoundland) . I wonder what breed puppy you might get. I wish you good luck. I know the pain lingers.. I still read the Rainbow Bridge and I still cry/ Maybe when you are up to it you can google it. Thank you, Marla, for the kind words. It has been hard to get used to life without our Zoe, but we are comforted by the wonderful 12 years we had her. Through all of this, I am just so glad to have found Dr. Jenn. She is exactly the type of veterinarian I was looking for, and feel truly blessed that we have her to turn to for our other animals. I have been to several vets in South Jersey and CANNOT get any relief for my Maltese. She has recently developed allergies. I am still trying to find out from what. She has been on one round of steroids with no relief and now they have put her on antihistamines with no relief. I have changed her food to Natures Balance since it has limited ingredients. Not sure what the next step is, but I am leaning towards all natural. Today I have taken her off of the antihistamines…I think they may be making her worse since there is no relief in sight. I am bathing her once a week with hypoallergenic shampoo. Any other suggestions? Where are you practicing now and how can we get in touch with you for a checkup? My husband is from Pittsburgh too!!

I’m sorry to hear about your girl. Allergies can be very frustrating. As you know, there isn’t one simple solution. Sometimes allergy testing and allergy injections can help, sometimes it is a different antihistamine, and I usually focus on food and supplements to improve their overall health and help decrease their allergy problems.
